It has been a long time since I have done a giveaway. The last one I did was back before I did a full refocus on Blondish.net- at the end of 2008. This giveaway is all WordPress related. Yep, you heard it… all WordPress goodness!

Why? Because I can… lol. Well, that and that I find that I am a WordPress advocate. I have converted and taught a lot of people… nearly in the thousands according to web stats over the past 8 years.

On Installing And Uninstalling Plugins

I have noticed a lot of plugins over the years lack the ability to totally uninstall files. What I mean by totally uninstalling is that when you use your WordPress admin panel to delete the files, it does not always take away the database tables that were installed in the beginning. A couple I can think of up front, are Next Gen Gallery and WP Link Directory.

While it might not seem so important for most people, it is important to remove any resources that you do not plan to use on your webhosting space because it could prove to be a way to hack into later on in the future. If hacked, this can run up your resources and suspend, or with some webhosts, they may ask you to upgrade or say they cannot host you.

WordPress Tutorial: Sometimes you forget. You might find it annoying, but when there are so many things to do and remember on a daily basis, some things slide through your mind and out your ear, like perhaps your password to log into you admin panel for WordPress. This article will explain three ways for you to be able to retrieve your password, especially if you have a self-hosted WordPress blog.

There are other questionable ways, but until those can be worked out with the most current version of WordPress, I will not list them. As a sidenote, you should try to put your admin username and password in a safe place. I recommend keeping some type of small ‘book’ where you keep your login information.

WordPress Plugin Review: WordPress Audio Player

I had been looking for a decent player for a client’s website and tried quite a few until I came across WordPress Audio Player. The plugin was developed by Martin Laine It is currently on version 2.0 beta 6. The plugin WILL work in WordPress 2.8.6.

To install, you can simply look up ‘WordPress Audio Player’ in your WordPress admin under Plugins> Add New or go to the WordPress Plugin directory and download so you can manual install.
