Giving Your Marketing Materials Visual Appeal

Marketing materials come in all shapes and sizes, but one universal truth is the fact that you need eye catching images to really get potential customers’ attention. You could have everything else perfect in your marketing collateral, but if you can’t keep their attention long enough to get your message or call to action through to them, then all of the time spent on that is wasted.

You don’t want to have to drop everything and run out to the local photography studio to add some punch to your marketing material. Instead, use stock photography to add color, style, and life to your writings.  Adding stock photographs to your newsletters, brochures, and flyers draws the eyes of your customers to your product information, specials, events, or whatever else you happen to be promoting.

Let’s say you’re running an animal-centric business, you might not be able to get all of the animal photos that you need yourself. This is especially true if you’re trying to show certain rare species, or some show level examples of a particular breed.

Stock photography definitely comes in handy in this case, since you don’t have to go through the trouble of finding a source for that particular breed of animal, then you’d have to go through the trouble of negotiating to be allowed to take photographs of it. That’s not even considering the equipment cost that it takes in order to take professional grade photographs.

Animal stock photos take a special kind of skill to take. Working with animals can be a difficult task, especially if you need a specific pose or action to occur in the video. You can’t just tell an animal to stay in one spot while you take pictures of it, after all. While some can be trained so that this works, most animals are not going to be able to follow that level of instruction.

Animal stock photographs take the frustration out of getting the perfect shots that you need. You can certainly augment this new photo supply with the pictures that you take, especially if you want to show off the animals that you’ve personally worked with. However, you just don’t want to limit yourself to the poses that you can attain when you’re working with these animals.

Stock photographs are a real lifesaver in a number of situations, and they can help to make your marketing materials much more effective. Once you’ve started finding the perfect professional stock photos featuring animals or anything else you could possibly want, you’re well on your way to making the best marketing materials around. It’s great to not have to spend a lot of time getting the visual media side of things together.

Essential Go Pro Accessories

gopro accessories

There’s no denying the phenomenal growth of the Go Pro camera and its varying applications in a variety of sports and activities. We’re now up to Go Pro Hero3 which shoots video in  4K and has with all the features we’ve come to expect from them, plus more with an added WiFi remote. Although, unless you’ve got wads of cash you won’t be able to view the 4K video, at 15 frames per second, on a 4K TV or monitor, as they’re super expensive. But we digress, this is all about what accessories you need to have for use with your brand spanking new Go Pro camera, whichever version you may have.
Whether you’re a video production company or extreme sports enthusiasts these are our top four Go Pro accessories:
1. Suction Cup (Reasonably priced at around £30)
This is perhaps one of the most popular and practical accessories for the Go Pro camera. Amazingly it can withstand speeds of over 200mph, and its tough durable material makes it suitable for withstanding knocks om car doors, on motorbikes, boats and much more. However, don’t try putting this on your surfboard or snowboard as this ain’t the accessory you need and won’t last 5 seconds for high impact sports. For best results it’s recommended you stick to a dry surface.
2. Underwater Housing With Floaty Backdoor (Approximately £50)
An essential accessory for any water based filming, this is essentially a water proof case with the floaty backdoor ensuring your camera is protected and easily recovered if dropped or unattached in the water. This makes it great for snorkelling or diving. The underwater housing, which comes with an assortment of mounting hardware, can be used on your surfboard as well. The Floaty backdoor is sold separately for around £15 and is definitely worth it for protecting your investment and most importantly your footage! You never know what can happen underwater!
3. Headstrap Mount (A bargain at around £15)
This is highly appropriate for a first person perspective for action shots. Ideal for skatepark sports such as BMX or skateboarding. The brace is fully adjustable to fit all sizes. Furthermore, the headstrap mount could also be used for training videos where a first person perspective might be needed to demonstrate.
4. Handlebar Seatpost Mount (Approx. £20)
An alternative to the headstrap mount, for allowing first person camera angles. If you’re using any sports equipment with a set of handlebars, then this is the mount you need. The diameter needs to be between 0.7″ and 1.4″. This covers chain stays, small roll bars, bolt heads, and control bars for kite and wind surfers. 3-way adjustable pivoting arms allow for for any angle to be used.

Dragonfly Productions are passionate about all forms of video production and regularly use GoPro accessories for their action filming projects.
